April 24, 1800

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1800 the Library of Congress was established with a $5,000 allocation. The third book purchased by the library was the ‘Necronomicon’ and it was subsequently transferred in 1943 to a secret vault that was designed by George Bergstrom and built by John McShain that is located many levels beneath the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia. Family folklore has it that after Colonel Leslie Groves died in 1970, he was entombed with full military honors in front of the chamber that houses the book as an undead guard to protect it from outsiders and non-Masons.
