On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com 1859 – In Boston, MA the first milk inspectors were appointed. Six months later, James Standwich petitioned the Boston City Council and was appointed the city’s first and official ‘Teet’ Inspector. Within a week 176 women between the ages of 16 and 81 angrily stormed the City Council’s office. The councilmen quickly realized that Mr. Standwich was not limiting his inspections to only cows. When Ms. Ella Oglesby (the 81 year old woman) vehemently demanded to know when it was going to be her turn for her inspection, the councilmen decided upon Mr. Standwich’s punishment.
