On This Date in! in 2011, the government of Wales conducted a survey of businessmen and consumers which showed strong support for the country to have it’s very own top-level domain name. In an online poll to determine the new domain name, was the top vote getter, but it was quickly shot down and was chosen. When Gerald Davis, Wales Councilman was asked how such a silly name as could have ever become the top vote getter in the online survey, he responded with much embarrassment, “We forgot to ban the Scots from voting on our website and you know how those bastards are with their inappropriate joking.”
