November 4, 1646

On November 4, 1646, the Massachusetts Bay Colony (which was to later become the state of Massachusetts) passed a law that made it illegal to deny that the Christian Bible was the word of God. The penalty was death. There is nothing funny about this. It shows why every religion should be denied a foothold in forming the laws and regulations of a government. They’ll institutionalize those beliefs and make it a crime to question those religious beliefs.

About Joel Byers

Born in North Georgia and educated at some very fine public institutions. Real education started after graduating from college and then getting married and raising two boys. Has the ability to see the funny and absurd in most things and will always remark on it, even if it means getting the stink-eye from his victims.
