On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 2007 the American bald eagle was removed from the endangered species list. The US Fish and Wildlife Services explained that after 40 years of helping remove pesticides that destroyed eggs, securing and protecting habitats and nest sites, the American bald eagle had recovered and were no longer threatened. Patrick Lehr, Deputy Commissioner of the US FWS, said that the most difficult obstacle to overcome and that had threatened the bald eagle’s survival was convincing the female bald eagles that a male bald eagle was attractive. He said that posting pictures of Yul Brenner, Vin Diesel, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at all the nesting sites and playing Barry White music during mating season finally brought the female eagles around and ensured the survival of the species. When it was mentioned that Dwayne Johnson wasn’t bald, Mr. Lehr vehemently insisted that he could be, if he wanted to.
