On December 28, 1732, Benjamin Franklin ran an ad in the first issue of “Poor Richard’s Almanack”. It was for the “Pennsylvania Gazette.” Later, to make some real change, Franklin ran ads for “The Furtive Pocket Telescope” which guaranteed an enterprising lad a view of a well-turned ankle from 100 yards away, the Thomas Topham strongman exercise routine with advice about when to take your ‘air baths’, and ads for the most wonderful of pets, “Sea Monkeys” which included the Arabic incantations required to sever the Sea Monkeys’ spiritual connections to Dagon, so they wouldn’t grow too large and consume your pineal gland.
I’m personally holding out for the X-Ray Spex, the Ventrilo Voice Thrower, and the Polaris Nuclear Sub. Share this post to place your order.
