On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1908 the state of Maryland barred Christian Scientists from practicing medicine without first obtaining medical diplomas. Christian Scientists nationwide protested this decision as they claimed (and rightly so) that other states over the next 100 years would also bar Christian Scientists from practicing their religion and would force them and their children to take ‘medicine’ like sulfa and antibiotics to cure pneumonia and infections instead of begging ‘God’ to cure them through the power of prayer only. God sent a note to the legislators of Maryland in the form of an image of the Baby Jesus found in the potato salad at the buffet where the senators eat, letting them know of His approval.
