December 23, 1893 and December 23, 1943

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1893, the Engelbert Humperdinck opera “Hansel und Gretel” was first performed in Weimar, Germany. When asked “Weimar?” Humperdinck replied, “Weinaughtmar?” Also on this date in 1943, “Hansel and Gretel” the opera was televised on New York’s WRBG and it was the first complete opera to be televised. The thousand’s of children who tuned in to see it were sorely disappointed with all the shouting and crying and singing, but giggled insanely when they learned that the person who adapted the story to opera was “Engelbert Humperdinck”. The New York mothers chided their children for behaving like uncultured ragamuffins, but stopped when they heard their husbands quietly whispering “Engelbert Humperdinck” and giggling.

    Dear Mr. Twisted History,

    This website is vile, disgusting and uncouth, and I do NOT approve! You talk WAY too much about booze and crime and woman parts, especially the woman parts. I think you write more about women’s baby-feeder places than anything else and that is just WRONG and DIRTY!

    The worst part about this one is that name. Englebert Humperdink, and just typing it makes me feel like I need a shower, is obviously dirty, even if I don’t know what’s dirty about it, but it MUST be dirty. It just SOUNDS dirty. Really REALLY dirty.

    PLEASE try to be a little more couth from now on.
