April 7, 1988

On April 7, 1988, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, thirteen white supremacists were acquitted on charges of plotting to overthrow the US government. These weren’t good men, or moral men. They had murdered other people. They even killed one man because they mistakenly thought he was Jewish. The men who committed those murders were found guilty of those killings and executed, but the jury didn’t convict them of conspiring to overthrow the government. Why? Because they were idiots and they couldn’t make a legitimate plan to overthrow a Walmart, much less the federal government. But stupid and angry can still kill good people. Hell, it can elect a conman that promises to make you strong and virile, while he destroys the policies and agencies that protect you while making himself even wealthier at your expense.
