September 5, 1955

On THIS DATE IN TWISTED-HISTORY! in 1955 Fred Kaps ascended to the rank of World Champion Magician. He performed the infamous “I’ve Got Your Nose Trick” at the Marvin Goldstein bar mitzvah 136 consecutive times, breaking the old record of 133. Only two little boys went home without their correct noses and Rachel Goldstein, age 17, received a new, petite nose that she liked better. Over the next six months Fred Kaps became a world-renown “painless” plastic surgeon and was much in demand for bat mitzvahs all over New Jersey and southern New York, as all the nice Jewish girls wanted a new, sportier nose as their bat mitzvah gift.
