On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 1992 the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched last place for the first time in team history since it moved to Los Angeles in 1958. At the end of the season, Manager Tommy Lasorda thanked both the day-to-day players and the pitchers for the effort provided and the injuries suffered, as the ignoble accomplishment of finishing last was a true team effort. The Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs sent the Dodgers a nice fruit basket along with a note that said “Congratulations and we hope to see you here for many years in the future.”
