On this date in Twisted-History.com in 1973 Billy Martin was fired as manager of the Detroit Tigers. Martin was relieved of his duties three days after ordering his pitchers to throw spitballs and paperwads at the Cleveland Indians batters. American League President Joe Cronin also gave Billy two weeks of detention as this was not his first offense.
