On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1920, King Alexander I of Greece died of blood poisoning after being bitten by his pet monkey, Zeus. Zeus was put on trial and found “not guilty” based on the fact that he was a monkey, and not a Frenchman. The English sent a note and asked the Greek government were they sure that the monkey was not really a Frenchman, as Frenchmen and Barbary macaques were remarkably similar.
