On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 1701, Anders Celsius was born in Uppsala, Sweden. He turned out to be an inquisitive young man interested in scientific pursuits and built the Uppsala Astronomical Observatory in 1740, the oldest observatory in Sweden. His brilliant scientific mind enabled him to invent the Celsius thermometer. Anders’s lesser known and disreputable brother Anal also invented a thermometer.
