November 24, 1971

On This Date in! in 1971, Dan “D.B.” Cooper hijacked a Northwest Airlines 727 and escaped by parachuting from the plane with $200,000 in ransom money over a deep woods area of Washington state. Mr. Cooper and the vast majority of the money has never been found. The theories of his disappearance have ranged from; he landed in the brush and was eaten by a bear, he landed in the brush and got away to Canada/Mexico/Soviet Union, he landed in the brush and was abducted by space aliens, he landed in the brush and started a family with his Big-foot lover, and he landed in the brush, stepped through a dimensional warp and escaped in a world that was ruled by Amazonian dinosaur-riding barbarian women. The last one is my favorite and I’d appreciate it, if more people would believe in it.

About Joel Byers

Born in North Georgia and educated at some very fine public institutions. Real education started after graduating from college and then getting married and raising two boys. Has the ability to see the funny and absurd in most things and will always remark on it, even if it means getting the stink-eye from his victims.
