On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY! in 2010 – Researchers trapped 38 anti-hydrogen atoms. It was the first time scientists had successfully trapped antimatter. The first trap was a carrot placed under a cardboard box that had one side lifted up by a stick. The stick was tied to a string that was also tied to the carrot. It was believed that when the anti-hydrogen atoms tried to grab the carrot, it would cause the string to move the stick, thereby making the box fall and trap the atoms. Unfortunately, the trap only captured four vegetarians and humorously enough, one rabbit. When it was suggested that the carrot be switched with porn, the result was that seven undergraduates were captured and subsequently released into the wild after they promised to deliver their late mid-term thesis’s. The anti-matter atoms weren’t captured until the scientists decided to use advanced scientific dohickeys and thingamabobs and not the ones they had purchased from Acme Incorporated.
