On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1844 Samuel F.B. Morse formally opened America’s first telegraph line. The first message was sent from Washington, DC, to Baltimore, MD and it read “What hath God wrought?” The return message was, “Message received. Your wife has asked that you pick up milk and bread on your way home.”
