On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1790 Paris, France was divided into 48 zones. When the French monarchy was reminded that Paris was a huge tourist destination and that at least one zone should be tourist-friendly, King Louis XVI said, “The world has met Frenchmen before, haven’t they? A sneer is our national smile and a condescending remark is how we say good morning.” The idea of a tourist-friendly zone was quietly murdered and buried in the backyard.
