On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1950 the American Bowling Congress abolished its white males-only membership restriction after 34 years. It was proven to them repeatedly that white women from Minnesota and Wisconsin could drink beer and continue bowling as well as any man. The American Bowling Congress also opened their membership to African-Americans so they wouldn’t be immediately outnumbered by the Minnesotan and Wisconsin women members.
