On This Date in! in 1992, Leona Hemsly “The Queen of Mean” was sentenced to 4 years in prison for tax evasion. She was quoted as saying ‘I don’t pay taxes, only the little people pay taxes.” She should have said, “I don’t usually pay taxes, but when I do, it’s after a circus of a trial where my selfish and greedy ways are exhibited for the entire nation to see as I cheat and steal from both the government and the people I employ and do business with and I’m forced to go to jail and the taxes are then confiscated from my bank accounts.”
