On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 493 AD Theodoric the Great, leader of the Ostrogoths was attending a banquet that he and Odoacer the first King of Italy had organized to celebrate the peace treaty they had signed signaling an end to warfare and their peaceful mutual rule over Italy. At the beginning of the banquet, Theoderic made a toast to Odoacer, then drew his sword and killed him. Theoderic was a German Ostrogoth and they weren’t big on sharing.
