On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 2002 in the U.S., Burger King began selling a veggie burger. This event was billed as the first veggie burger to be sold nationally by a fast food chain. McDonald’s asked Burger King if they remembered the Hula Burger, which was a slice of grilled pineapple topped with cheese inside a hamburger bun. Burger King replied that no one remembered it.
