March 12, 1911

On March 12, 1911, Dr. Simon Flexner of the Rockefeller Institute and his assistant, Dr. Hideyo Noguchi discovered the cause of infantile paralysis. It was caused by a virus, the poliovirus. Dr. Flexner and Dr. Noguchi laid the first block in curing a disease that for centuries had devastated and crushed families. Because of them, a vaccine would be eventually developed that would prevent any future babies and children and adults from suddenly becoming paralyzed. Infantile paralysis and polio were almost eradicated from the United States. But then the Karens and the Chads of the world found a voice through the internet and they decided that their ‘opinion’ carried as much weight as an actual doctorate degree. They decided that a fraudulent study created to discredit a single vaccine meant that all vaccines caused autism and any other disease or condition they could dream up. Thanks Karen. Thanks Chad. Because of you, polio is still a thing and children and babies who medically can’t get a vaccine are also being denied herd immunity from the measles, mumps, and the flu. All diseases that can cripple and kill them, just because you want to feel in on the conspiracy.
