June 3, 1851

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1851 the New York Knickerbockers became the first baseball team to wear uniforms. The other teams in the League considered the Knickerbockers to be “Fancy Dans” with their new-fangled matching uniforms and several teams declared that they’d never stoop to something so effeminate.

About Joel Byers

I think what they should have been ashamed of was how dirty their name sounded! Anybody with a name like that should have it changed IMMEDIATELY.

You’d think they’d have the good sense to shorten it to something more respectable, like that basketball team or that lady from Fleetwood Mac.

Didn’t mean to get so angry, but dirty sounding names really make me mad.

    Sincerely,
