In 1358 – the Republic of Dubrovnik was founded and lasted until 1808, when Napoleon ran over to it in his large scale game of RISK and pushed down its walls (since it was really just a City-State in present day Croatia) and declared ‘You FOOLS! Only I can consolidate Europe and win this game. You should have gone the easier route of world domination through Australia or South America! Bwahahahahaha
