July 8, 1709

On July 8, 1709, Peter I of Russia defeated Charles XII of Sweden at the Battle of Poltava. This effectively sent Sweden to the B-Team as a mover and shaker in Europe’s power struggles. The Swedes, while not very happy with the outcome, decided to concentrate on something more worthwhile than creating an army and navy that could compete in the European arena. They decided to concentrate on producing tall and leggy blondes that the rest of the world would look at and desire. Their plan came to fruition in 1990 with the creation of the Swedish Bikini Team. When it was learned that lonely men in America would buy more beer if beautiful women sold it, the Swedish Bikini Team kicked the male models out and switch to an all-female group. Yea! Girl Power!
