On July 29, 1968, Pope Paul VI reaffirmed that the Roman Catholic Church forbid its members to use artificial methods of birth control. He also reminded everyone that masturbation and the various forms of sodomy were still sins and could not be used as a method of birth control, even if Father O’Malley said on Thursdays you could buy two “Indulgences” for the price of one.
