On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! on this date in 2009, the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century occurred and lasted up to 6 minutes and 38 seconds and covered parts of Asia and the Pacific Ocean. Soon afterwards in August 2009, strange sounds began being reported all over the globe. The loud, booming, humming noises last for about an hour and sound like they are emitting from the sky. The sounds are so loud that that they have been drowned out TVs being played in people’s homes and have even shook houses. Some people have described the sounds as trumpet-like, although the recorded sounds more resemble the bellowing of a “sky whale” for a mate. The un-official “official” explanations are that the sounds are caused by earthquakes, electromagnetic pulses, solar activity, secret government activities, UFOs, the supernatural or even elaborate hoaxes. One government official from the National Weather Board, who insisted upon remaining anonymous, stated that the sounds being heard and recorded is swamp gas that is escaping from a weather balloon that was trapped in a thermal pocket caused by the reflected light from Venus. No other government officials have commented on the sounds.
