January 28, 1962

On January 28, 1962, Johanne Relleke was stung by honey bees a record 2,443 times at the Kamativi tin mine in Zimbabwe (which at the time was known as Rhodesia). Mr. Relleke was the only survivor. All 2,443 bees perished in what they now call ‘The Relleke Massacre’. The Worldwide Apis Community (aka WAC) tried to have Mr. Relleke designated as a mass bee murderer, but the hornets and wasps refused to join in, as they stated that any bee that dies after just one wimpy sting is a wuss and deserves what they get. I think we can all agree that hornets and wasps are dicks.
