January 13, 1854

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1854, Anthony Faas of Philadephia, PA was granted the first US patent for the accordion. Mr. Faas made improvements to the keyboard and enhanced the sound, thereby making it easier to play and gave it a richer, fuller sound. Alas, he could do nothing for the accordion players themselves. They all still look like Weird Al Yankovic or that creepy German (excuse me, Austrian) uncle who goes around wearing lederhosen and trying to get you to pull his finger.

About Joel Byers

Born in North Georgia and educated at some very fine public institutions. Real education started after graduating from college and then getting married and raising two boys. Has the ability to see the funny and absurd in most things and will always remark on it, even if it means getting the stink-eye from his victims.
