On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 2012 Davy Jones of ‘The Monkees’ died from a heart attack at age 66. Mr. Jones was a former popular singer and TV star when he became a member of the Monkees in 1966 and starred along with the other members on their very popular TV show. When his teen idolness and singer career began to wane, Mr. Jones went back to his first passion, which was horses and he became a jockey. There is no truth to the rumor that Mr. Jones actually rode two race horses named Heroin or Cocaine and fell off during the race and there is no truth that the race commentator shout that the ‘horse has thrown the monkey of it’s back’ either time.
