On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1989, Vice President Dan Quayle sent Christmas cards to 30,000 of his closes friends and campaign contributors with the message “May our nation continue to be the beakon of hope to the world.” Vice President Quayle subsequently received a dictionary as a gift from President Bush with the word ‘beacon’ highlighted and bookmarked. President Bush thought this would correct the problem, until the ‘potato’ incident happened in 1992.
