August 25, 2008

On this date in in 2008, Father Antonio Rungi of the Passionists order in the town of Mondragone, Italy proposed on his blog to hold a “Beauty Contests for Nuns” where the nuns would send him photos and people would vote for who was the most lovely. He envisioned that the Sisters would be rated on their holy attributes of spirituality, social awareness, charity and other qualities. He had to quickly take down his proposal on the next day as his superiors were very unhappy with his idea and the fact that he posted it on the internet and didn’t first clear it with him. Rungi said that he had no intentions of putting the Sisters on a catwalk in swimsuits, since it was going to be an internet contest anyway. He did mention that since his superiors really hated the Nun Beauty Contest Idea, he was very happy that he didn’t float the “Private Chat With A Hot Nun” pay per minute plan he’d come up with.
