August 14, 1873

On THIS DATE IN TWISTED-HISTORY in 1873, “Field and Stream” magazine issued its first publication. The first centerfold was a Northern Rainbow Trout printed in full-monochrome color along with tips on how to find and land these tasty fish. The Great-Grandfather of Hugh Hefner, after reading the magazine, did send in an unprinted letter to the editor where he mentioned that while the fish was nice, a picture of a buxom lass would have been better.
