On THIS DAY IN TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 1981 MTV launched in the United States. It was the first television station that played music videos 24 hours a day and the first video shown on MTV was the Buggles’ song “Video Killed the Radio Star”. In 1992 the “Real World” premiered on MTV and the reality series killed the Video Star, as that was the decline of MTV actually showing music videos and going straight to crappy reality show to crappy reality show.
