March 28, 1865

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1865 outdoor advertising legislation was enacted in New York and banned “painting on stones, rocks and trees” as a means to tell others about your business or business opportunities. The writing on a bathroom wall at a bar or pub was specifically excluded.

December 3, 1931

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1931 Alka Seltzer was sold for the first time. It wouldn’t be until 1975 that the famous jingle and TV ad “plop plop fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is” would be heard and adolescent boys would immediately turn it into a scatological reference to irritate their mothers.
