September 17, 1997

On September 17, 1997, John Bell, age 115, of Baltimore, Maryland, received a new pacemaker. He had apparently outlived the battery of the one that was implanted when he was a young and spry 104. When asked if he wanted to purchase the three-year extended warranty for only $59.97, he just laughed.

I never get the extended warranty, but I do always pay a little extra for the undercoating. I know it’s not needed, but I like the way it feels going on. Share Twisted-History. And don’t judge me.

About Joel Byers

Born in North Georgia and educated at some very fine public institutions. Real education started after graduating from college and then getting married and raising two boys. Has the ability to see the funny and absurd in most things and will always remark on it, even if it means getting the stink-eye from his victims.
