September 11, 1997

On this date in in 1997 Scotland voted to create its own Parliament after 290 years of union with England. Wales immediately tried to ride on the Scottish coattails and several Wales for the Welshmen (and attractive goats and sheep) sent numerous letters to the Queen with their intention of starting their own Welsh Parliament. Unfortunately for the Welsh, all of the letters were all written in Welsh and they all said, “Hey, Queen, rydym eisiau I’n Senedd hunain, felly beth am y peth rhowch fyny. Ar fai?” and were promptly ignored.
