On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1980 Daredevil Steve McPeak rode a 101 foot tall unicycle at the Las Vegas Hilton to set the world record. The unicycle used by McPeak weighed in over 1,400 pounds and he had to pedal it in a circle around the circumference of the crane that lifted him to his seat to set the record. It was subsequently broken in 2004 by Seth Abrahams.
