November 28, 1720

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 1720, notorious pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read were tried and found guilty of being pirates and sentenced to death in Spanish Town Jamaica. But when it was discovered that they were both pregnant, the Crown stayed their executions until they had their babies. There is no record of either woman being subsequently hanged and it is believed that both escaped punishment for their high seas crimes.
