November 1, 1848

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY!  in 1848, the first medical school for women was founded by Samuel Gregory in Boston, Massachusetts. Also on this date in 1856, the first photography magazine, Daguerreian Journal was published in New York City. The first centerfold featured Nurse Mary O’Leary, an 1851 graduate of the Boston Female Medical School. She was shown in her nursing outfit checking the temperature of a male patient with the back of her hand.
