On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1908 Cincinnati’s mayor, Mark Breith (all 120 lbs of him) announced before the city council that, “Women are not physically fit to operate automobiles.” The very next day, Mayor Breith called a new meeting where he announced that he had been mistaken and that women were strong enough to drive a car. Everyone politely ignored his two black eyes and his six foot tall, 200 lb wife standing behind him.
