On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1880 Wabash, IN became the first town to be completely illuminated with electric light and soon, the urban and even most rural settlements followed suit and the great Moth Massacres began. All over the United States from 1880 until 1965, moths would fly and congregate around these miniature suns and die without propagating and many scientists started to worry that entire species would die off. In 1966 at Point Pleasant, WV, a strange new creature was spotted and it seemed to have an unnatural hatred of electric lights. It was seven-foot tall and resembled a humanoid moth. Also at this time, several leading Lepidopterists noticed that moths were dying in fewer numbers each year due to electric-light hypnosis.
