On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1190 the famous German Emperor Frederick Barbarossa drowned. Instead of taking the time to go over a mountain on their way to the Crusades, Barbarossa jumped into the Selaph River to prove to his men that they could safely cross it as a short-cut. He drowned within minutes of entering into the fast moving, cold water. His army then turned around and went home.
