On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1960 manufacturing began for the Etch A Sketch® and soon afterwards the first commercials for this toy were shown during the Saturday morning cartoon schedule. Children all across the United States learned an important lesson of how toy advertisers were a pack of lying bastards.

    Our product works exactly as advertized. It’s not our fault if your little Timmy doesn’t have the artistic skills needed to reproduce the fine works of art that appear in our commercials.

    Maybe you should start him off with something more suited to his obvious lack of talent, like a Magna Doodle.
