January 9, 1958

On January 9, 1958, NCAA Division I basketball team Cincinnati played Seton Hall and won the game 118 to 54. A point of interest has to be noted, future NBA Hall of Famer, Oscar Robertson of Cincinnati scored 56 points. Cincinnati was a very good team that year and Seton Hall was very bad. Very, bad. But even in 1958, a Division I team isn’t supposed to be outscored by a single player on the other side. Oscar Robertson was just that good.

In spite of being a Sportsball expert, I find the specifics of hoops and plates and goal posts and such to be a bit confusing. Fortunately though, you can Share this post to score points with the Twisted Historian. No expertise required.
