January 19, 1861

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1861, Georgia seceded from the Union. The reason it gave was that all the other cool states were doing it and that Abraham Lincoln wasn’t its real father, George Washington was its real father. Four years later when the ‘secession’ craze had run its course, Georgia and all the other states that had rebelled were sent to their rooms as punishment to think of what they’d done and wouldn’t be allowed to be readmitted until they said sorry. It took Georgia six years to say “Sorry” and ask for readmission. All the other Confederate States had done so way before Georgia. Georgia called the other states quitters, especially Alabama who was supposed to be its best bud and hang in there with it. Alabama was readmitted in 1868, Georgia in 1870.
