On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1955 Israel acquired 4 of the 7 Dead Sea scrolls from Time/Life Inc., with an option to purchase the other three over the next three months. Israel’s President, Yitzhak Ben-Zvi, said a deal like that could not be turned down, especially since they were getting at no additional costs, a leather-bound volume of “The Story of the American West” each month starting with “The Story of the Alamo.” Prime Minister Moshe Sharett was not happy.
