On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1999, Sarah Knauss died at the age of 119 years, and at the time of her death, she was the world’s oldest living person. She was born on September 24, 1880 and was a 20 year old when January 1, 1900 struck the clock. She missed January 1, 2000 by one day. If there is any consolation to be had, it is that she was the last person to die during her lifetime.
