August 4, 1753 and 1930

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 1753 George Washington became a Master Mason. Also on this date in 1930, Author Zane Grey earned the title of Master Baiter as he used a threadfin herring to hook and land a 1,040 lb Pacific Blue Marlin off the coast of Tahiti. He said he’d never have landed it if he hadn’t previously dedicated the time to strengthening his wrists.

    Little known fact: Psychic Jeane Dixon claimed that in a past life, she was hit on by George Washington, who tried to pick her up in a tavern by asking her, “Hey, wanna see my ‘monument’?”

    Although the actual claim is dubious, the line itself consistently ranks among the worst, and least successful, pickup lines of all time, and has become known as the Mason/Dixon Line.
